The Global Padel Report 2025 by Playtomic lists Indonesia as one of the fastest-growing padel markets in the Asia Pacific region, alongside Singapore and Thailand.

In major cities, padel has evolved from a recreational activity into a new form of “social currency”, a medium for expanding professional networks, building cross-industry communities, and embracing an active urban lifestyle. Initially introduced by expatriates in Jakarta and Bali, padel is now widely embraced by Indonesia’s middle class as well.

This momentum aligns with shifting consumer behavior, particularly among young adults aged 30-40, who are increasingly prioritizing preventive health and sports with a rapid learning curve. Racquet sports fit these needs due to their dynamic rhythm, short play duration, and highly social nature. Their adoption has also been accelerated by Indonesia’s long-standing badminton culture, which makes racquet-based activities feel familiar and signals long-term market potential beyond a passing trend.

As stated by Founder of Liga.Tennis, a leading racquet sports club chain, Dmitry Scherbakov, “Indonesia is entering a social fitness boom. People today aren’t just looking for exercise; they want social connection, community, and meaningful experiences. Racquet sports sit right at the heart of this shift because they are fun, easy to learn, and inclusive for all ages and skill levels.”

Indonesia’s rapid growth in racquet sports is also generating a visible economic ripple effect. The global phenomenon known as the “paddle effect” is reflected locally through the rise of apparel brands, equipment suppliers, physiotherapy and recovery centers, coaching academies, amateur and professional tournaments, the creator economy, and growing F&B businesses surrounding sports facilities. This trend aligns with global insights highlighting the rising importance of wellness. According to the Global Wellness Economy Monitor 2024 by the Global Wellness Institute (GWI), the global wellness economy is projected to reach US$9 trillion by 2028.

Furthermore, the Global Padel Report 2025 notes that Indonesia records one of the highest court-level productivity figures globally. A single padel court in Indonesia generates an average gross merchandise value (GMV) of over €6,000 per month (approximately Rp110 million), representing 173% YoY growth between 2023–2024. With Playtomic and Monitor Deloitte projecting the global number of padel courts to reach 85,000 by 2026 nearly double today’s supply Indonesia shows two strong signals for investors: robust, sustainable demand and above-average monetization efficiency per court.

“When a padel court is built, it’s not just the players who move; the surrounding economy moves with it. Indonesia is at an inflection point in racquet sports growth. What we see today is more than rising player numbers; it’s the emergence of a new industry with significant economic potential. Therefore, we are not only building sports clubs; we are building Indonesia’s largest integrated racquet sports ecosystem connecting coaching, communities, facilities, and digital platforms,” Dmitry added.

Established in 2017 as a digital platform connecting racquet sports players, Liga.Tennis has grown into one of Indonesia’s fastest-growing racquet sports club networks. The brand opened its first physical club in Bali in 2019 and has since served amateur and professional players alike, including a visit by Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champion, during his Bali trip in 2019.

Liga.Tennis currently operates six clubs in Bali and one club in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, with an average occupancy rate of 85%. Each location is equipped with comprehensive multi-sport facilities, including tennis, padel, squash, pickleball, tennis academy programs, and community courts designed to support both recreational and development-focused players.

Backed by a rapidly growing user base of nearly 100,000 users on the Liga App, Liga.Tennis sees a compelling combination of a large population, a growing middle class, and a significant supply gap factors that support its ambition to expand to 77 clubs across Indonesia and beyond over the next decade.

Interest in racquet sports in Indonesia has surged significantly over the past few years, creating new economic opportunities in both the sports and lifestyle sectors.
